Eric Moore's bookshop is situated at the bottom of one of the oldest streets in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, a market town dating from the Middle Ages. George Chapman, the sixteenth century translator of Homer who is commemorated on a plaque on the wall of the shop, is reputed to have been born in the same street.
The bookshop has been trading from this address since 1965. Housed in a 150 year old building, the former "Postboy Inn", the shop is full of nooks and crannies with a succession of rooms, offering a rare opportunity to browse among 35,000 books, maps and prints.
